Step 1 : Acid Dipping
Step 1: Acid Dipping & Shell Assessment
The first and most crucial step in our nut and bolt restorations is acid dipping the car’s shell. We work with a trusted external specialist to carry out this process, which completely strips the shell of paint, rust, underseal, and filler. Unlike media blasting, which can sometimes leave corrosion hidden in seams and tight areas, acid dipping ensures that every inch of metal is exposed, allowing us to assess the true structural integrity of the shell.
Once the shell is fully stripped, we carefully inspect it to determine whether it’s a viable base for restoration. This process is essential—some shells may appear solid at first but are actually too far gone underneath layers of filler and rust. If the structure is sound, we now have a clean, bare metal foundation to work with. From here, we can move forward with fabricating and welding any weak areas, reinforcing the chassis, and preparing the shell for the next stages of restoration.
By starting with acid dipping, we eliminate any guesswork and ensure that every build begins on a solid and reliable foundation.
Step 2 : Fabrication

Once the acid-dipped shell is returned to us, we immediately begin the process of restoring its structural integrity. Our priority is to assess and repair any weak areas by fabricating new sections and panels as needed. Using our top-of-the-line facility, fully equipped with precision tools and machinery, we carry out all fabrication work in-house to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship and accuracy.
During this stage, we patch up any compromised areas, reinforce critical structural points, and ensure the shell is solid and true to its original form. This step is crucial, as a strong, properly repaired chassis is the foundation for the entire restoration.
We work efficiently to complete this stage as quickly as possible so the shell can move on to the next step—rust protection and further preparation. By handling all fabrication in-house, we maintain full control over quality, ensuring that each restoration meets our exacting standards.
Step 3 : Primer & Protection
Step 3: Rust Protection & Primer Application
With the structural repairs and fabrication work complete, the next step is to protect the freshly restored shell from corrosion. We move the frame into our in-house, state-of-the-art body shop, where it undergoes a full rust protection treatment and primer application.
At this stage, we ensure every inch of exposed metal is properly sealed to prevent surface rust and long-term deterioration. This process is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the restoration, as bare metal can begin oxidizing quickly if left unprotected.
By carrying out this step in-house, we maintain full control over the quality of materials and application techniques, ensuring that the shell is fully safeguarded and ready for the next stages of the rebuild. Our meticulous approach guarantees that the vehicle’s foundation is solid, protected, and built to last.
Step 4 : New DNA & Mock Up
Step 4: Mocking Up the Car’s DNA & Drivetrain Fitment
With the shell now solid and protected in primer, we move on to one of the most critical stages of the build—mocking up the car’s DNA. If the project involves an engine and drivetrain transplant from another vehicle, we begin by assessing the necessary modifications to accommodate the new components. This step is all about precision, ensuring that every part is properly positioned, mounted securely, and integrated seamlessly into the chassis.
We don’t simply drop an engine in and make it fit—we approach this process with safety, structural integrity, and long-term reliability in mind. Using custom jigs, fabricated brackets, and reinforced mounting points, we engineer the transplant to be as strong and durable as possible. For example, fitting a W204 C63 AMG engine, gearbox, subframe, and axles into a W124 coupe is far from a straightforward swap. These components were never designed to work together, so we carefully analyze all mounting areas, modify the chassis as needed, and reinforce any weak points to handle the increased power and weight.
Once all parts are mock-fitted and confirmed to align correctly, we disassemble them again. This allows us to send parts such as suspension components, subframes, and brackets for sandblasting, ensuring they are clean and free from rust or debris before final installation. At the same time, we order new replacement parts where necessary and begin rebuilding critical components, such as the engine, gearbox, and drivetrain. This ensures that when the time comes for final assembly, we are working with problem-free, fully refreshed parts, eliminating potential issues down the line.
Restoring the Original Drivetrain
If a customer wants to retain the vehicle’s original engine, drivetrain, and mechanical components, we take the same meticulous approach to restoration. We fully disassemble, inspect, and rebuild every component to factory specifications or better, ensuring that everything operates like new. This includes engine overhauls, gearbox rebuilds, differential restorations, and suspension refurbishments. We replace all worn-out seals, gaskets, bearings, and internals, ensuring the drivetrain performs flawlessly and remains reliable for years to come.
This stage ensures that whether we are performing a full drivetrain swap or restoring the original components, every part is rebuilt, tested, and prepared to the highest standard, setting the foundation for a problem-free and high-performance build.
Step 5 : Paint & Body

Now that all assessments have been made and the mock-up is complete, we can confidently move on to painting the shell. At this stage, the car is fully prepped to ensure a flawless paint job inside and out, including the exterior, interior, engine bay, and underside.
We mount the shell onto a rotisserie, allowing us to access and paint every inch with precision. This ensures that no area is left untreated, providing a factory-quality finish and long-term protection against the elements. Our in-house body shop is equipped to handle any colour and finish, from original factory paint codes to fully custom designs, with the highest level of craftsmanship.

Step 6 : Build Up

This involves the careful assembly and integration of the subframes, axles,, and gearbox, progressively transforming the shell into a fully realized vehicle. Now that the project is fully fitted and assembled, we can shift our focus to the critical stage of wiring and electronics. Step 9 : Tuning
At this stage, we have successfully integrated all components, from the engine to the interior, and it is time to conduct thorough testing. We begin by scheduling a dyno run, which is essential for the performance and functionality of all mechanical systems. During this evaluation, we meticulously monitor the car's performance metrics to ensure optimal operation. Once we are satisfied with the results, we move forward with fine-tuning the engine ECU. This critical step helps eliminate any flat spots in the power band while maximizing both performance and drivability. For builds that incorporate aftermarket performance, such as high-flow exhaust systems, we ensure all components function seamlessly together to enhance the overall driving experience. Additionally, we perform comprehensive diagnostics to verify that there are no errors and that all electronic systems operate as intended.
